                                                                Road Safety

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for your continued to support of school. I am writing in relation to road safety in our immediate school location. Ensuring the safety and welfare of our children and families is a priority and you will have seen the recent media article:

Miss Kirkman's Road Safety Plea

We politely request that parents and carers park either outside school on the main road, avoiding the yellow zig zags or in the Village Hall car park at drop-off and collection. This is to avoid parking on the junction down from school and creating blind-spots for crossing. We know you are all super-supportive when it comes to road safety and rest assured, we are logging our concerns with NYC Highways and the North Yorks Police. In addition, if you witness any unsafe driving, please call 101 and log - school have logged this for the three schools: NYP-140623-0166.

In addition, we advise you log any near misses to NYC 95 Alive by emailing as a paper trail/log. The North Yorkshire and York 95 Alive Road Safety Partnership work together with the collective aim of reducing the number of people killed and seriously injured on the County’s roads.

North Yorkshire Police runs 'Operation Spartan' which aims to reduce accidents and danger to vulnerable road users by asking members of the public to report specific instances of dangerous driving including near misses. This is if you have footage - please also log via the link below:

Rest assured, school are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of your children.

Warmest regards,

Miss Victoria Kirkman
