                                                                                                                                9th June 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we move towards the end of the academic year, the IEB would like to reflect on what has been a most wonderful year where the federation continues to go from strength to strength following the Ofsted visits at both Ripley and Beckwithshaw. There was a huge amount of work put in place to secure these judgements and we feel proud of all stakeholders for their continued support. We now eagerly await a further inspection at Beckwithshaw and at Kettlesing.

The IEB would like to update you on staffing for September and very much look forward to the stability this will bring to the federation and the impact this will have on the lives of our children.

Commencing September, we are delighted to inform you of the appointment of Miss Victoria Kirkman as the Executive Headteacher of the Federation. Miss Kirkman has been the Co-Interim leader of the three schools this academic year and familiar to both the federation schools and the local area in North Yorkshire so can continue to build on the success we have had this year. Miss Kirkman will be leaving her current role as Executive Head of Birstwith and Admiral Long to take up our position full time.

Mrs Foy, who has worked alongside Miss Kirkman since November 2022 as Co-Interim Executive Headteacher and SENCo and at Kettlesing for many years, will be leaving the federation at the end of term to take up post as Inclusion Support in Dubai British School Jumeirah Park. The IEB wish her much success for the future and thank her greatly for her tireless work at the federation.

We have also appointed Mrs Eloise Foster as Deputy Headteacher and SENDCo at the federation who comes with a wealth of skills and expertise and who is also familiar with the federation and the local area.

Mrs Bowman, Miss Lowde and Mrs Burton will be leaving us at the end of this term and we thank them for their significant work in Class 1, Class 2 and as TA support. We wish them every success for the future.

We would also like to take this opportunity to inform you of classes for September:

Class 1 – Reception/Year 1 – To be appointed. Rest assured, plans are already in place regarding recruitment.

Class 2 – Year 2/Year 3 –Mr Farrimond

Class 3 – Year 4/Year 5/Year 6 – Miss Miller

Mrs Dickinson, Miss Hemming and Miss Marcroft will provide TA support and Mrs Mills, Office Administrator.

The I.E.B. and Executive Headteachers have been considering the situation regarding Nursery provision at Kettlesing. We are very grateful to the families and children who have supported and benefitted from the facility and for the staff who have worked within it. Unfortunately, we have only had three full-time applications for places for September 2023. Sadly, it is neither financially nor educationally viable to continue Nursery provision with such small numbers. We have therefore recommended that the Nursery should close temporarily at the end of this term in the hope this can be re-established in the future. We value your views and opinions and therefore will be sending further communications regarding this next week.

Once again, we very much look forward to the next, exciting stage in the federation’s journey.

Thanks

Robert Ling

Chair of the IEB
