Happy New Year! I hope you have had a fun-filled festive break.
It's always exciting to start a new term and begin our next learning journey! Our topic of The Great Fire of London will see us investigating chronology, materials and changes. We will be writing in the genres of reports and diaries and we will study the buildings of the time and be inspired to draw, print and model. Through rhymes, songs and food we will discover how people lived and contrast fire safety then and now.
In maths we will become experts in time and money, as well as honing our place value and number skills, including fractions, through problem solving. We will investigate length and height and learn how to represent information on a graph.
This term we will be having PE lessons with Sporting Influence every Monday , and continuing to develop our foundation sports skills with The ABC of Sport on a Thursday.
Please keep practising your SMIRFs (Space Mission Instant Recall Facts) targets and your common exception spellings, and of course enjoy reading at home too. 10 minutes of each as often as possible will have a huge impact on your child's learning.
